A2 (304) is the standard grade of stainless steel fastener and the right choice for the large majority of indoor and general outdoor work. It resists rust in normal room, workshop and garden conditions without the price uplift of marine grade.
This collection brings together every A2 (304) fastener Simfix stocks, covering machine screws, wood screws, self-tapping screws, hex bolts, carriage bolts, socket caps, nuts and washers, all manufactured to DIN, ISO or BS standards.
When to choose A2 (304)
- Indoor fixing, furniture, cabinetry and joinery
- Fencing, gates, sheds and garden structures away from the coast
- Workshop, machinery and general fabrication
- Any job where plated steel would rust but salt exposure is not a factor
When to step up to A4 (316)
Choose A4 (316) marine grade for coastal sites, boats, swimming pools, and bathrooms or kitchens that stay humid. The molybdenum in A4 resists the chloride pitting that can bloom rust on A2 in those conditions.
