This spring washer is manufactured to ANSI/ASME B18.21.1 in stainless steel. ANSI/ASME B18.21.1 specifies the imperial series of helical spring lock washers, for maintaining tension under vibration. The split ring compresses flat as the joint is tightened and pushes back against the nut face, maintaining tension and helping the fastener resist vibration.
