This M6 nyloc lock nut is manufactured to DIN 985 in A2 stainless steel (304 grade). DIN 985 specifies a standard hex nut body with a nylon insert in the upper portion of the thread. As the bolt passes through, the nylon insert deforms around the thread and creates a prevailing torque that resists loosening under vibration and dynamic loading. Unlike chemical thread lock, the nylon insert remains effective after removal and re-fitting multiple times, making it practical for assemblies that require periodic maintenance access.

Typical applications

  • Mechanical assemblies subject to vibration, where a standard nut would loosen
  • Automotive, machinery, and general engineering applications
  • Workshop equipment, bicycle and cycle components, and jig frames
  • General indoor and outdoor fixings where vibration or movement is a risk

How do I choose between A2 and A4 stainless steel?

A2 (304) stainless steel suits most indoor, outdoor and workshop jobs. Choose A4 (316) marine grade for coastal, marine, poolside or other chloride-rich environments.

How do I make sure I order the right size?

Check the size in the product title and the standard, material and dimensions in the Product Specification tab. In M8 x 30, M8 is the thread diameter and 30 is the length in millimetres. See our size guide if you need more help.
